Houston City Council Proposed Ordinance to Require
Obtaining City Permits for Truck Traffic

Subject: Houston Regulatory Alert (5)

The Houston City Council will decide today the fate of the proposed ordinance creating
a new tax on oversize/overweight vehicles.

TMTA President John D. Esparza offered invited testimony before the Houston City
Council Tuesday afternoon along with Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association
President Michael Stewart, as well as a host of TMTA Houston chapter members including
TMTA-Houston Chairman Steve Davis.

Trucking industry stake holder’s concerns were shared by the Houston East End
Chamber of Commerce President, Diane Lipton, who was also on hand to offer testimony
in support of the concerns initially raised by the trucking industry.
The Houston East End Chamber partners include:
