If You Have It, A Truck Driver Brought It
A Professional Truck Driver:
Must be tested and obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and all appropriate endorsements related to the type of truck operated and cargo transported;
Must be physically and mentally fit, and must be medically certified at least every two years;
Must be alcohol and drug-free and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing;
Must have the knowledge and capability to inspect his or her truck to ensure it is in safe operating condition at all times;
Must be familiar with the methods and procedures for securing cargo in or on the truck he or she drives;
Must be trained in hazardous materials regulations if he or she hauls such products; and
Must, on a daily basis, record his or her on- and off-duty hours to ensure he or she remains within the legal limits for hours of service.
